For heat-treated tempers, an inspection lot shall consist of an identifiable quantity of material of the same mill form, alloy, temper, and nominal diameter traceable to a heat-treat lot or lots, and subjected to inspection at one time. Variations from the specified diameter, length, and straightness shall not exceed b136 permissible variations prescribed.
Samples for chemical analysis shall be taken from the material by drilling, sawing, milling, turning, or clipping a representative piece or pieces to obtain a prepared sample.
